An Open Letter For Those Who Are Interested In Making Change

By Jessica

Everyone in their lifetime goes through changes whether they are positive or negative. In order to make change in your life, you have to care about the lasting impacts. That goes for making positive changes in other people’s lives. Everyone has difficulties in their lives, some more than others. Regardless, a small act of kindness can make a genuine impact such as helping people with difficult situations, providing them with resources, and so much more. Making social change is more than just charity work.

Nonprofit Giving is the perfect class to get hands on learning experience. This is class prepares you for the real world. Reviewing and critiquing grant proposals, asking questions, finding ways to raise money, learning about opportunities and connections, and so many other factors that other classes do not teach you. This class also shows you that you are more than the problems that you face. You hear people’s stories and why making social change is important to them. Social change should be about promoting permanent change and that is exactly what this class will teach you. Taking this class has made me learn more about myself and nonprofit work. You will not regret taking this class! Take this opportunity and help yourself and others.

There are many different ways you can make a difference, not only in your life but in others. There are many reasons why people want to make a difference in the world. I want to make a difference because I want to help people to have access to resources that they need regardless of what it might be; food, clothes, housing, treatment, etc. There is more to life than just you. You can turn a negative situation into a more positive one. Going through traumatic events can motivate you to help those going through similar situations because you know how it feels. Everyone is capable of making change, but change is more powerful with as much helping hands as possible. That is what promotes and makes change.
